LAME DUCK'S BACK

The superficially smart arrogant prat Blair is back in Downing Street but on crutches ( a meagre 36% of the vote ) and with his wings clipped ( from 167 to 6o-odd seats ). Now being such an obvious liability to his party and with Gordon " back door tax" Brown hovering in the wings/straining at the leash, it's only a matter of short time before Mr B. packs in and limps off to some top cushy part-time Europarl' number beside his pal Mandy, and write the obligatory autobiog.

So that's all ok then.

Like hell it is. That bastard, along with Bush is a war criminal responsible for the brutal deaths by horiffic means of thousands of innocent men women and children and hundreds of thousands more terribly injured. His one remaining defence, that they or their numerical equivalent would have been killed anyway by Saddam over time is complete horse shit. That's like saying we are all going to die in time, so may as well get it over with now and bring back hanging ~for everyone, John Cooper-Clarke style. If there was any justice in the world both would be standing 'cuffed & facing a jury in the Hague.

Blair was told in no uncertain terms by the intelligence services that war with Iraq would " risk a substantial increase in terrorism". Now we have the tragic situation of about 20 - 50 people blown to bits in suicide car bombings and killed in shootings almost every day. Blair's " not available for comment" silence is deafening. What nauseating hypocrisy.

TB and Dubbya ~like the Crusaders of old ~ claim Christ on their side " Fight the good fight" etc. They should maybe try this one ; " What profiteth a man if he gains the whole world yet loses his own soul? " ~JC AD 30 (ish)

Thank goodness "Gorgeous " George Galloway has unseated that slippery PC nightmare TM, Oona King down in Hackney. Here's a straight-talking no nonsense man with some principles and healthy sense of respect and justice and IN politics! As for the Blairite luvee, pretty smiling Oona; I dare say she'll be given a new job within fawn team Blair soon enough ~ crud always floats to the top. ( It's just a political analogy Oona, I'm sure you're a lovely lady in social intercourse)

.. . . .so all is not quite lost ~yet.

Well, I suppose we all knew it would happen. I guess the slight recompense is that the damage has been done to Blair's majority, and hopefully it will now be impossible for us to support another of Bush's imperial projects any time soon. Though I say that advisedly ...

George Galloway was certainly a highlight - and he really got back at Paxman after winning, which was great stuff to watch. But there was also (apart from some incremental Lib Dem gains) the "swashbuckling" Bob Marshall-Andrews, a great Labour backbencher and persistent rebel, who predicted his defeat early on, but thankfully got back in (albeit very narrowly ...)

Not much consolation, admittedly. But perhaps it's all we can hope for at this point. :-(

Regards,

Tim
