AND A JOLLY GOOD TIME WAS HAD BY ALL

So the G8 concerts entertained us and made us all feel good about sending a message to our political leaders to lift African debt so that the continent's leaders pass the savings on to their starving and their poor.

Sir Bob wasn't thumping tables asking for money this time around and those G8 summit leaders were nowhere to be seen.
Why and why? ?

I think Bob knows very well that the public have sussed that our donations don't reach the needy. Most of Live Aid's millions went straight into the bank accounts of African leaders or else used to buy arms to defend the same leaders' positions of absoloute power against rebels and thus fuelling civil wars. So people's well-meaning charity ended up causing more misery than ever before.

The G8 summit leaders were notable by their absence either live on stage or by televised link-ups. Where was Gordon Brown yesterday, that champion of African good causes? They are still the other side of the fence, just as they will be on Wednesday at Gleneagles. Politicians are very good at keeping their heads down when reality beckons.

I predict that the G8 leaders will cobble something tawdry together, just as they have in the past. Something that looks good on paper, but with strings attached. Brown will harp on about " stringent conditions" being attached to the debt relief, that the authorities in Africa be seen to use the money to target the proper resources. But he has yet to come up with a cast iron way to do this. And if there is no cast iron guarantee that money given will be money well spent, then the corrupt leaders in Africa will again find a way to channel any benefits into their own already well-lined pockets.

Surely some of the angst and protest at back of the Live8 concerts yesterday should have focussed on the African leaders also. Even if ( and its a big IF ) the G8 summiteers were to hand $billions over to Africa it would still disappear down the same black holes.

Mc Cartney, Bono, Pink Floyd etc were whistling in the wind yesterday. The whole scenario about Live Aid/ Live8 whatever boils down to the same principle as giving serious money to an alcoholic beggar on the sidewalk whilst chastizing him nicely and asking him politely to use the money to feed his starving dog laying alongside -and whom the beggar is using to attract the sympathy & money in the first place. Actually, that is a remarkably close analogy.

I don't mean to be negative, there were many well-intentioned people enjoying themselves yesterday. But I am afraid the world is just not that utopian. It's a real shame that people cannot seem to bring an equal level of rational preception about what is really going on in Africa. It really isn't all that hard to see. " Sending a message" just isn't enough when dealing with out and out vicious corruption. It's hopelessly naive and in our hearts I think we all know it.

NOAH'S ARK 2?

I watched our BBC 6pm news yesterday with incredulity. They produced two "models" ~maps actually, of England, positing two scenarios of the projected effects of global warming on sea levels. The maps indicated swathes of land that would, in theory be covered with sea for 50m and 8m rises. The 50m map, which assumes total Antactic & Greenland ice cap melt, reduced England to an unrecognizable skeleton of its present familiar outline. The ( "more likely" ) 8m rise ate away at the edges and flooded into estuary regions, further indenting areas like the River Severn.

These two models, presented on mainsteam TV at peak viewing times implies two threatening " Truths" or facts.

1) A subliminal assumption of fact that greenhouse carbon emission from our industrial chimneys and cars is the cause of the present slight warming in our climate.

2) This present short ( in planet history terms) spell of slightly higher average global temperatures will melt the ice caps and glaciers and raise sea levels dramatically.

So lets LOOK at the facts.


FACT 1) There is NO proof ( or even evidence) whatsoever that global warming is human-engineered. The earth has gone through many, many short and long periods of temperature fluctuation - indeed one may say the mean global temperature is always changing - most of which occured before human beings were even walking on the planet not to mention driving about on it. We just happen to be going through a warmer period at present.

FACT2) The "experts" have been warning of rising sea levels for at least 30 years now. Global warming, according to the "experts" has apparently been going on for at least that period. Yet there is NO appreciable or measureable rise in world sea level occuring. If their simplistic theory was correct, we would have seen at least the beginning of a rise in sea levels by now with the melting of at least a fraction of the antarctic ice cap with the temperature increases to date.

If sea levels had risen by even one centimetre you can be sure Tony Blair and co would ram this down our throats as justification for his profit mongering from scare mongering. ( see WIND FARM blogs )

GET THIS CONTROL FREAK BLAIR OUT OF OFFICE AND FAST. THE COUNTRY IS IN A STATE OF FEAR AND PARALYSIS. NO ONE DARE SPEAK OUT AGAINST THIS VICIOUS MURDERING SUBTLE DICTATOR. HE IS CREATING A BIG BROTHER STATE WHERE ALL ARE AFRAID OF LOSING THEIR JOBS OR CAREERS BY SPEAKING THE TRUTH.

BLAIR'S ROTTEN BRUSSELS HOT AIR

Outlining plans for the UK's six-month EU presidency, Blair argues that the " EU faces a crisis in political leadership and would fail on a grand scale if it did not change to win back public support ".
Surely our Tony is talking about himself here. After all, he should know about failure on a grand scale. On the day he is woffling and pontificating off to a bloated corrupt gaggle of Euro MPs, 30 more people are blown up in Iraq car bombings. The country is a seething wasp's nest of militancy and the country's infrastructure a complete basket case. Yet here's the angelic Tony waving all that aside as if it never happened or that he has any responsibility at all for that dire state of affairs and for the massive scale of human suffering that has resulted from his decision to go to war on false pretexts and poodling up to the warmonger Bush.

" Only by change will Europe recover its strength, its relevance and its idealism " ( by facing up to Globalization)

Yes Tony, and the best change of all will be when you yourself leave the political stage for good.
We know the type of economy you have in mind for Europe, because you are rolling it out over here, with sweatshop working conditions and hours, population taxed to the hilt in all areas except the air they breathe and fed a daily diet of lies, cover-ups of major scams and gravy train jobs for your boys, NHS full of your managers, superbugs untackled, mass immigration allowed to drive down pay and conditions.

SLAVE LABOUR? You can shove it where the sun doesn't shine Blair/Brown and I hope you get the same message from Europe over these next 6 months. The people don't want your soul-less "vision". It's a vision of hell, where the working masses are nailed to the floor with loaded legislation and crippling tax burdens. The people of France and Holland were voting against all the things that Blair stands for ( mass immigration from an expanded-eastwards Europe and reform of working laws and practices to in effect force workers to work harder for less and introduce"sack-on-the-spot" employers rights ) . He's in for a shock if he tries to soft soap the French as he has his own sheepish population. Remember, those French farmers take crap from no one.

We get the timescale of the Blair-Brown handover here, I feel. If there is an agreement between them, it'll be the end of the 6-month EU presidency stint when Blair hands over to Brown. Blair's huge ego just can't resist that last rush of power from being at the helm in Europe and his last chance to go down in history as some kind of heroic reformer, when in practice the only reform he has in mind is to do the dirty work of his friends in the global multinationals and to " crack" the socialists in France - the last bastion of democratic rights for workers and people in the western world today.

Can't you just see right through this vicious clown's mask?

WIND FARM EXPOSE

A headline news story today is the announcement of the opening of the largest wind farm site in the UK, in mid-Wales on the mountain plateau of Cefn Croes, at a cost of £50m. This is just for starters according to HM Government ( Blair), who put out that they are committed to wind power as part of their drive for cleaner electricity. This ties in of course with Blair's pretend concern over greehouse gas emmission and global warming.

Before we launch into the subject proper, a sideline of thought for consideration by all proper-thinking people might be the question; if Tony Blair claims to be so humane as to have fatherly concern about us all and about our children's futures, rising sea levels etc, that he somehow is convinced is being caused by carbon emmisions ( and that is another dodgy assumption anyway), how is it that he was prepared to send Bristish troops to their deaths in Iraq on the back of a fabricated and non-existent threat to our country? The man doesn't have a compassionate bone in his body. And if he does it's borrowed from the queen of heartless - Thatcher.

The wind farm jigsaw is now complete with a letter written to TGO magazine ( The Great Outdoors) by Professor Peter A. Bullough of Sheffield University. In it he states and I quote;

" This is a nasty industry dominated by huge multinational energy companies, many with major interests in "politically incorrect" fossil fuel and nuclear generation. I suspect that many of your readers might have been reluctant to oppose wind power, in the belief that it is a real alternative to coal, gas or nuclear -it is not. Anybody who makes the effort to understand how electricity generation and grid distribution works will realize what a scam the whole business is.

When wind is available, "conventional" turbines ( nuclear or fossil fuel) are NOT switched off, they are connected in parallel with the wind turbines. As the output from wind turbines is unpredictable ( often our weather is also calm ) the conventional turbines must continue to run at near-maximum torque to smooth out variation in the wind power. This means steam pressure ( that drives the conventional turbines) must be kept up and the furnaces that are supplied with fossil fuel must keep running even though the conventional turbines might not be supplying any real power.

The Danes didn't realize this in their headlong dash for wind. However, they have lately discovered that even though they can now generate 20 per cent of their electricity needs from wind, their consumption of fossil fuels and emmmissions of carbon dioxide are virtually the same as before, with or without the wind blowing.

Unfortunately our government listens only to the advice of the wind power industry and to the "green" lobby, both of which seem determined to ignore these inconvenient facts. If you are concerned,I suggest writing to your MP, MSP or AM - he or she might need educating."

This, combined with my THIS WIND FARM BALONEY 2 previous blog (please read) in which I recount another article implicating Blair and the Labour Party in with the directorship of the company who manufacture the wind turbines, should be enough for any reasonable person to see clearly what is going on behind this government's farcical public facade on wind power.

Which is that this shameless Government, headed by the most unscrupulous politician at work in the western world today is prepared to see the ravaging of some of the most precious landscape left untouched on this small island together with the waste of millions of taxpayers' money; on something which does not affect carbon emissions at all. And he knows it!

All to line his and his cronies' fatcat pockets.

And so should " Friends Of The Earth" know it by now. What on earth are they doing supporting something which is redundant, inneffectual, environmentally destructive and retrograde? Tony Juniper WAKE UP and smell the coffee, before FOE become a complete laughing stock.


In a real democracy - not a sham one - Blair would be locked up in the big house along with Saddam.
